James Dashner sequel

If you loved the intensity of James Dashner's
The Eye of Minds, then you have read the next book in the Mortality Doctrine series:

The Rule of Thoughts
The Mortality Doctrine Book Two

Michael completed the Path. What he found turned everything he'd ever known about his life-and the world-completely upside down.  He barely survived.
But it was the only way VirtNet Security knew to find the cyber-terrorist Kaine--and to make the Sleep safe for gamers once again.

And, the truth Michael discovered about Kaine is more complex than they anticipated, and more terrifying than even the worst of their fears.  Kaine is a tangent, a computer program that has become sentient. And Michael's completing the Path was the first stage in turning Kaine's master plan,
the Mortality Doctrine, into a reality.

The Mortality Doctrine will populate Earth entirely with human bodies harboring tangent minds. Any gamer who sinks into the VirtNet risks coming out with a tangent intelligence in control of their body.

And the takeover has already begun.

The year is 2061, and Caleb's world is crashing down around him.

But there is no place on earth, past or present, that is safe from Uncle's tentacles, and runaways get the harshest treatment of all.

Looks like Caleb will have to risk everything to fight for the future he dreams about.

Gaming is Addicting...

You could almost lose yourself in a game, literally...

The Eye of Minds

Michael is a gamer, and like most gamers, he almost spends more time on the VirtNet than in the actual world!  Sound familiar?

But some technology is too dangerous to fool with.  One gamer is going beyond what any gamer has done before:  he's holding players hostage INSIDE the VirtNet.  The effects are horrific - the hostages have all been declared brain-dead.  Yet that gamer's motives are a mystery.

This is where Michael comes in.  The government wants Michael on their team.  They've been watching him.  They want him to risk everything and go off the VirtNet grid - which means he'll experience things in the back alleys and corners in the system that human eyes have never seen...with potentially devastating consequences.

A world beyond your wildest dreams and your worst nightmares!!

Really Good Sci-Fi Read!

Mila 2.0
by Debra Driza

Mila, 16, is shocked to learn--by falling out of a truck and discovering wires and high-tech gadgetry where blood and bones should be--that she is not a teenage girl, but a military weapon: Mobile Intel Lifelike Android.
Her mother is actually one of the scientists who created her.

Her "mother", who has learned to care for Mila, spirited her away when it was decided that Mila should be scrapped in favor of a newer model (Mila 3.0) because Mila version 2.0  developed nearly genuine human emotions, and therefore has become an unacceptable vulnerability. When Mila and her mom are caught, Mila must face a series of tests to save her mother and herself from elimination. To survive, she'll have to figure out how to make the most of her military hardware and training as well as her undesirable and unplanned human emotions
A fast-paced sci-fi adventure complete with artificial intelligence, military intrigue, secret societies and a hint of romance.

Series Finale

The conclusion to the "Life As We Knew It" series

Four years ago, a meteor crashed into the moon, altering the Earth's gravity; the world is an ever-bleaker place.

Seventeen-year-old Jon Evans, the younger brother of Miranda, lives with his stepmother and half brother in an enclave called Sexton.

After countless natural disasters and proliferating disease, humanity is now plagued by rigidly cruel class stratification, in which a person is either a respected "claver" or a disdained "grub," a system so ingrained that Jon struggles to understand whether or not he thinks it is right.

Jon is aware that, in this new safe-town in which he lives, a missed goal, a careless word, even falling in love, can jeopardize his life and even Miranda's life, though she lives outside the walls of Sexton.

Can Jon risk doing what is right in a world
 gone so terribly wrong?

New this Month...

...on Playaway - the all-in-one Audiobook!

Your heart beats only with their permission.

Everything changed on The Day. The day the windows shattered. The day the power stopped. The day Dol's family dropped dead. The day Earth lost a war it didn't know it was fighting.
Since then, Dol has lived a simple life in the countryside -- safe from the shadow of the Icon and its terrifying power. Hiding from the one truth she can't avoid.

She's different. She survived. Why?

When Dol and her best friend, Ro, are captured and taken to the Embassy, off the coast of the sprawling metropolis once known as the City of Angels, they find only more questions. While Ro and fellow hostage Tima rage against their captors, Dol finds herself drawn to Lucas, the Ambassador's privileged son. But the four teens are more alike than they might think, and the timing of their meeting isn't a coincidence. It's a conspiracy.
Within the Icon's reach, Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas discover that their uncontrollable emotions -- which they've always thought to be their greatest weaknesses -- may actually be their greatest strengths.
